How SET IPTV works
SET IPTV belongs to the group of Smart TV players that move all configuration to a website. On the TV you see one identifier and a channel list; on the website you decide what that list contains. People like it because there is nothing to type with the remote, and because a family member can fix the playlist remotely from their own phone, provided they know the MAC address.
The app and the IPTV subscription are two separate things. SET IPTV is a player published by one company. The subscription is a service from a provider that gives you the playlist link. Each is paid to a different party.
SET IPTV MAC address
The set iptv mac address is a string of six pairs of characters, like 00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E. Only digits and the letters A to F appear. Three tips:
- Read it in the app, not in the TV menus. The app may report the Wi-Fi or the Ethernet address, depending on how the TV is connected.
- Decide on the connection first. If you plan to use a cable, plug it in before you read the address and upload the playlist.
- Treat it as private. With your MAC address, someone could overwrite your playlist from the website.
SET IPTV Samsung and LG installation
On set iptv samsung televisions, search for the app in Samsung Apps from the TV home screen. On LG, search the LG Content Store. Availability can differ by model and country, and it may change after a store update. If you do not find it, check the supported devices on the publisher’s official site rather than installing a file from an unofficial source.
If SET IPTV is not available for your TV, IBO Player is a common alternative on both platforms; see our IBO Player Samsung and LG guide.
SET IPTV playlist upload, field by field
The set iptv playlist upload page is where most of the setup happens. What each part means:
| Field | What to put in it | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| MAC address | The address shown in the app | Check every character |
| Playlist link | Your M3U URL from the provider | Keep the full ending, such as type=m3u_plus |
| EPG link | An XMLTV guide address, if supplied | Leave empty if the playlist already contains one |
| File upload | A playlist file instead of a link | Avoid it: files do not update |
Prefer a link to a file. A link lets the app fetch the current list each time it starts, so when your provider moves a channel to a new address, you get the change automatically. A file is a frozen copy that slowly goes out of date.
If your provider gave you only Xtream Codes details, ask for the matching M3U link, or build it yourself following our Xtream Codes vs M3U article.
SET IPTV activation
The set iptv activation is per device. During the trial you can confirm that the app, the TV and your playlist all work together. Before the trial ends, you pay on the official activation page using the same MAC address. The fee is set by the publisher and can change: check the official site for the current price.
Pay on the official site yourself, or use a clearly identified activation service such as the one offered by the country versions of this site. Unknown third parties who offer to activate the app have no special access; they use the same page and simply learn your MAC address in the process.
Troubleshooting
- Channels do not appear after the upload: restart the app completely, then compare the MAC address on screen with the one you typed.
- Channels appear but do not play: test the same link in a phone player. If it fails there too, the subscription or the network is the cause.
- The guide is empty: add an EPG link on the upload page and restart.
Many of the network checks in our IBO Player not working guide apply equally to SET IPTV.
Limitations
There is no Xtream Codes login screen on the TV, the interface is basic, and each television needs its own activation. A new upload replaces the previous playlist for that MAC address. For a similar app with a connection code instead of a MAC upload, see SS IPTV; for the overview, see the IPTV player apps comparison. If you do not have a subscription yet, choose your country to see the local offer.
